GRANVILLE, Ohio – The Capital University women's track and field team finished sixth place at the Denison Lid Lifter hosted by Denison University in the Mitchell Center.
Sophomore Jordan Lyle (Sunbury, Ohio) highlighted the day for the Crusaders, finishing first in pole vault with a leap of 3.36 meters.
Ashley Freshkorn (Columbus, Ohio) turned in a third-place performance in the weight throw, hitting 14.53 meters. She also added a fifth-place finish in the shot put (11.44m). Junior Jennifer Long (Hilliard, Ohio) placed fifth in the weight throw, hitting 13.51 meters.
Capital's 4x200-meter relay team of Josie Beaumariage(McMurray, Pa.), Abbey Bodeker (Vermillion, Ohio), Kasey Parkhurst (Astalla, Ohio) and Rachel Rus (Highland Heights, Ohio) ran a time of 1:52.09, placing third.
The Crusaders' top individual scorers were Lyle and Freshkorn, each with 10 points.
California University of Pennsylvania won the meet, posting 117.50 points. Carnegie Mellon University finished second (89.50) and Wilmington College took third (77.50).
The season continues for Capital when it travels to Marietta, Ohio to compete in the OAC South Split Meet on Saturday, Jan. 31, held inside the Dyson Baudo Rec Center.
