Women's Track & Field Take Seventh at Otterbein Invite

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University women's track and field competed in the Otterbein invite held at the Rick Center on Saturday afternoon. Capital's biggest impact once again came from its field participants.

A week after being named OAC Female Athlete of the Week, Taylor Atkins (Bethel, Ohio) continues to turn in strong performances. The sophomore was runner-up in the long jump (5.19m) and added a third place finish in the triple jump (10.00m). Atkins scored 14 points in those events.

Sophomore Jordan Lyle (Sunbury, Ohio) recorded a third place pole vault (3.18m) finish on her way to scoring six points.

Ashley Freshkorn (Columbus, Ohio) finished in sixth in the weight throw (13.70) while Jennifer Long (Hilliard, Ohio) placed eighth with 13.05m.

The Crusaders finished the meet with 35 points, which was good enough for seventh place. Tiffin ran away with the meet, scoring 196.50. The next closest score was Otterbein with 137 points.

The Crusaders next action will be at the Denison Lid Lifter to be held at the Mitchell Fieldhouse (Granville, Ohio) on Saturday, Jan. 24.
