Matt Waddell begins his fourth year at Capital University.

Waddell led Capital to its second straight appearance in the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament in 2013 after guiding the team to its highest win total in the past seven years. The Crusaders finished 7-12 overall, including a 4-5 mark in the OAC, and earned the No. 5 seed in the tournament. Three players were named Academic All-OAC following the campaign.

In 2011-12, Waddell guided the Crusaders to the team's first appearance in the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament since 2008.

Waddell is no stranger to Capital athletics, as he formerly coordinated all elements of radio production for the Crusaders. In addition, he previously served as an assistant men’s tennis coach at Capital during the 1996-1997 seasons.

Waddell came to Capital after spending two years as an assistant girls' varsity basketball coach for Tree of Life Christian High School.

A tennis stand out in Central Ohio, Waddell was a two-time Ohio High School State qualifier for Westerville South and a nationally ranked junior in the Midwest region earning him a scholarship to the University of Cincinnati. Following his time at Cincinnati, he became a working tennis professional at Wickertree Tennis Club and assisted the women’s tennis program at Otterbein during the 1996-97 season.
