AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – To open the 2019 spring season, the Ohio Athletic Conference announced its first wave of spring sport Players of the Week. Capital University's Madison Watt was named Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Monday, February 18, after a two-win outing against Concordia University (Mich.) over the weekend.

Madison Watt (Wapakoneta, Ohio/Wapakoneta) earned wins at number one singles and number one doubles over the weekend in the Crusaders' spring debut match against Concordia University (Mich.) at the Olympic Indoor Tennis Center. She defeated the Cardinals' Charity Felton, who came into the match 9-8 overall, at number one singles. She outlasted Felton in three sets (6-1, 2-6, 6-2), which gave the sophomore her second win of the day.

Watt's first win came in doubles play when she and teammate Maria Sadek teamed up to defeated Felton and Kaylee Tucker in one doubles, 8-1. Capital went on to beat Concordia, 7-2.

Watt is now 2-4 overall on the season in singles play and 4-2 on the doubles circuit. This marks the second OAC Player of the Week honor in her young career.

Capital (4-2) will prepare for this Saturday's match against Pikeville University (Ky.) at Olympic Indoor. That match will take place on Saturday at 12 p.m.
