Women’s Tennis Falters in OAC Opener

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Capital University Women's Tennis fell in its conference opening match, 9-0, by the hands of John Carroll University at Scarborough East Tennis Club on Saturday afternoon.

The freshman pair of Madison Watt and Ashlee Freeman gave John Carroll its best test in doubles play, though fell by a count of 8-2 to Lauren O'Malley and Madisyn Rini.

Watt then fell in the top singles spot, 6-0, 6-1, to O'Malley to set into motion six straight JCU wins at the turn. Maria Sadek contended against Rini in the second singles flight with a 6-3 loss in the first set, but then was defeated 6-0 in the second.

John Carroll (6-4) went on to run the table in doubles and singles play to deliver Capital its seventh loss of the season.

Capital will play a second straight day when they take on Ohio Northern University on Sunday, March 25 at the South Regency Tennis Club. First service is set for 7 p.m.
