Crusaders Defeat Marietta, 3-0

COLUMBUS, Ohio- Capital Women's Soccer defeated Marietta College, 3-0, Wednesday evening at Bernlohr Stadium. With the win, the Crusaders improve to 10-4-0 overall, 3-1-0 in the OAC, while the Pioneers fall to 7-6-1, 1-3-0 in conference play. 

FIKE SECURES THE GAME-WINNER  
In the 10th minute of play, senior Jordan Fike (Powell, Ohio) dribbled the ball down the side of the field and chipped it over Marietta's goalkeeper. The ball landed in the lower left corner of the net for Capital's game-winner. Fike leads the Purple and White in goals, tonight's marking her seventh of the season. 

KIMBLER WITH THE PK 
Less than a minute after Fike's goal, sophomore Gabbi Viggiano (Hilliard, Ohio) was taken down in the box by Marietta's Gracie Tate. Senior Allyssa Kimbler (London, Ohio) took the penalty kick for the Crusaders and buried the ball in the lower right corner of the net. This is Kimbler's sixth goal of the season and ninth of her career. 

HUGE SAVE 
In the 35th minute, Marietta's Kayla Tomlin beat a Capital defender off the ball and launched it towards the net. Junior goalkeeper Kelly Bachmann (Zionsville, Ind.) came out of the box and made a beautiful save for the Purple and White. Kelly Bachmann is credited with the shutout along with Lauren White who played in the second half. 

MAKE IT THREE 
Late in the first half, freshman Aaliyah Brletic (Hilliard, Ohio) sent a cross ball in front of the net. The ball was tipped by Marietta's goalkeeper and landed on the foot of sophomore Hillary Counts (Canal Winchester, Ohio). Counts cut off the defender and took a shot sending the ball passed Marietta's goalkeeper and into the net for the Crusader's third and final goal of the match.  

UP NEXT 
The Crusaders will take on the University Mount Union this Saturday, October 19. The game will take place at Mount Union Stadium and kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
