Crusaders Secure Another Conference Win

TIFFIN, Ohio – Capital University Women's Soccer earned its second conference win of the season Wednesday afternoon at the Hidden Valley Soccer Complex. The Crusaders defeated Heidelberg University, 3-1, and now sit at 9-3-0 (2-0 OAC) on the season. 

CAPITAL WITH THE LEAD
The Crusaders took the lead right out of the gate. In the fourth minute of play, senior Jordan Fike (Powell, Ohio) took a corner kick for Capital. Freshman Lauren Bowe (Springboro, Ohio) connected with Fike's corner and headed the ball past Heidelberg's goalkeeper and into the back of the net.  

HEIDELBERG TIES IT UP
Heidelberg tied the match in the ninth minute. McKenzie Perry was taken down in the box by freshman Avery Hart (Pickerington, Ohio), resulting in a penalty kick for the Student Princes. Victoria Perez struck the ball into the upper left corner past Kelly Bachmann for Heidelberg's first and final goal of the afternoon. 

FIKE WITH THE GAME WINNER 
Not long after Heidelberg's goal, Fike secured the game-winner. Senior Carlee Murry (Hilliard, Ohio) sent the ball forward to Fike who took a shot from 30 yards out. The ball landed in the back of the net and Capital regained its lead. 

HART ADDS A THIRD 
Early in the second half, Hart scored Capital's third and final goal of the match. In the 50th minute, Fike passed the ball to Hart who took the shot, securing Capital's lead.  

UP NEXT 
Capital will take on John Carroll Universit,y Saturday, Oct. 12 at Bernlohr Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
