Capital Runs Past Adrian, 4-1

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Capital women's soccer team defeated Adrian College (Mich.), 4-1 on Friday night at Bernlohr Stadium. With the win, the Crusaders advance to 7-3-0 overall, while the Bulldogs fall to 5-3-2.

STANISOVSKA PUTS CRUSADERS AHEAD 

Sophomore Kailey Stanisovska scored the first goal of the match in the 15th minute to put Capital ahead, 1-0. Freshman Avery Hart received a long ball in at the 20-yard line that she nudged to Stanisovska, who sent it past Adrian's goalkeeper into the bottom left corner of the net. 

KIMBLER SCORES TWO FOR CRUSADERS 

In the 79th minute of the game, Adrian's goalkeeper was called for a foul in the box and Capital received a penalty kick. Senior Allyssa Kimbler took the penalty shot, firing the ball into the back of the net. The Crusaders took the 2-0 lead. 

In the last minute of the game, Stanisovksa was taken down in the box resulting in another penalty kick for the Crusaders. Kimbler took the shot, sending the ball into the right corner of the net for the fourth and final goal of the match. 

 

HART ADDS TO THE LEAD

Late in the second, there was a scramble in front of Adrian's net. Sophomore Cassidy Ryan got two shots off, one was saved and the second was blocked, but the ball eventually landed on freshman Avery Hart's foot. Hart dribbled around one of Adrian's defenders and fired the ball into the back of the net, securing the Crusader's third goal.

DAVIS SCORES FOR ADRIAN 

Following Capital's third goal, Adrian immediately took the ball down into the Crusader's defending zone. Eve Davis tipped the ball into the net off a cross from Caroline Flemming, making it a 3-1 contest. 

UP NEXT 

Capital will take on Baldwin Wallace University in their first conference matchup on Saturday, Oct. 5 at the George Finnie Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
