COLUMBUS, Ohio – To prepare for another run toward an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) title and NCAA Tournament berth, Capital Women's Soccer will feature a schedule filled with a strong field of competitors. Multiple NCAA Tournament teams and conference champions are on the horizon for Capital in the upcoming season, which opens officially on Sunday, Sept. 1.

The Crusaders will face off against four different teams that advanced to the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament in 2018 including Wheaton College (9/6), Hope College (9/7), and Adrian College (9/27), all in the first month of the season. Five of their opponents were conference tournament runners-up and two were conference champions.

Capital's season opener is also its home opener. On Sept. 1, the Crusaders will open its doors to Olivet College (2018: 8-9-2, 4-4-0 MIAA) for a Sunday afternoon affair. The Crusaders then hit the road for its next five matches to enter the crux of a very busy September.

The road trip will kick off at Ohio Northern University where Capital will launch into back-to-back matches with a pair of nationally-ranked teams that advanced deep into the NCAA Tournament. Their first test will be on Sept. 6 against No. 9 Wheaton (Ill.), which last year went 19-4-1 overall, won its conference regular season championship, and played in the Round of 8 at the NCAA Tournament. The very next day the Crusaders will play No. 15 Hope (Mich.), which went 16-3-1 and advanced to the Round of 16 in 2018.

Two of its next three road contests will be against North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) competition, including the tournament runners-up, Wittenberg University.

After the run of road games concludes the Crusaders will play its next four at home. All will be against nonconference teams and two will be against top-3 teams from the NCAC. After nearly a month away from Bernlohr Stadium, Cap will host Kenyon College (2018: 8-6-3, 4-2-2 NCAC) on Sept. 18. Next, Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) regular season runners-up Hanover Panthers (12-3-2, 6-0-2 HCAC) come to town on Sept. 21, followed by the NCAC champion Denison University (17-2-0, 9-0-0) on Sept. 25. The homestand will wrap up when the Crusaders welcome Adrian (Mich.), which won the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association regular season and tournament championships and went to the national tournament.

The month of October and the OAC slate opens up with a trip to Berea, Ohio for a Saturday night showdown against Baldwin Wallace (2018: 11-7-1, 5-4-0 OAC) on Oct. 5. The Crusaders' first conference home game will be on Homecoming Weekend with a night contest versus John Carroll (2018: 7-11-1, 4-5-0).

The backend of the OAC schedule will provide a challenge when Cap travels to Ada for a match against Ohio Northern (2018: 14-4-1, 7-1-1) on Oct. 26. To wrap up the regular season, Cap will challenge rival and defending OAC Champion Otterbein (2018: 17-3-0, 8-0-1), which enters the season ranked 23rd in the country. That game will be played on Saturday, Nov. 2 and lead into the OAC Tournament.

Cap, led by fifth-year head coach Matt Ogden, finished the 2018 season with a 13-6-0 overall record and 6-3-0 OAC record, good for the fourth seed in last year's OAC Tournament. The schedule will also feature one exhibition contest on August 21 against Ogden's alma mater, Rio Grande University (NAIA), to be played at Bernlohr Stadium at 7 p.m.
