KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The United Soccer Coaches announced the organization's NCAA Division III All-Region teams on Tuesday with Allyssa Kimbler and Maggie Peddicord of Capital University Women's Soccer both receiving All-Great Lakes Region selections. These are the first regional awards for the two players.
For her stellar play in the center of one of the region's best defenses, Kimbler was named to the all-region first team. The London, Ohio native served as the last line of defense for Capital all season long and helped the Crusaders allow only 22 goals in 19 games, the third-fewest in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The junior also scored two goals.
Peddicord was a force on the defensive and offensive phases of the game from her spot in the Capital midfield and was placed on the all-region second team for her efforts. After not scoring a goal in her first 43 games at Capital, the Columbus native scored four times in the final 11 games of this season and she added six assists this season. The junior scored three goals in a two-game span from Sept. 29-Oct. 3, two of which came on Oct. 3 against Heidelberg University. She also scored the game-winner in double overtime against Wilmington College on Oct. 24.
Both Kimbler and Peddicord were named First Team All-OAC by the conference in early November and both were on the 2018 OAC All-Tournament Team. The Crusaders finished the season with a 13-6 overall record and 6-3 conference mark.
