COLUMBUS, Ohio - Capital University Women's Soccer is set to host the Ohio Athletic Conference Quarterfinals on Tuesday, Oct. 30 when Baldwin Wallace University will make a return trip to Bernlohr Stadium. The Crusaders earned the No. 4-seed in the conferencce tournament after finishing the season with a 6-3 conference record. Kickoff at Bernlohr Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m.
How They Got Here
Capital (12-5, 6-3 OAC) got off to the best start of head coach Matt Ogden's career and have not slowed down since then as the Crusaders earned a top-four seed in the OAC Tournament. Capital started with three wins against Wittenberg University, DePauw University and Transylvania University (Ky.) and allowed only one goal in each of those contests while scoring eight itself. The first loss of the season came to a nationally-ranked Hope College team on Sept. 15 but the team responded with a 4-3 win at Albion College (Mich.) a day later. Following a loss at Hanover College on Sept. 22, the Crusaders won five in a row, three in the OAC. Wins over Thomas More College (Ky.) and Ohio Wesleyan University kicked things off and then victories over Baldwin Wallace, Heidelberg University and John Carroll University gave Cap a 3-0 start in the OAC. A loss to Marietta College slowed things downs but Capital came right back with a 1-0 win against the Univeristy of Mount Union and then beat Muskingum 3-1. The Crusaders then fell to Ohio Northern University before beating Wilmington College 1-0 in double overtime, ensuring that the Crusaders would not lose back-to-back games in the regular season. Now they'll try to avoid that again after dropping a heartbreaking game to Otterbein University in overtime on Oct. 27.
At Bernlohr Stadium this season, the Crusaders are 7-1. BW is 5-4 on the road this season.
