DELAWARE, Ohio – In the final non-conference match of the season, Capital University Women's Soccer (2-5-1) was unable to get a win against Ohio Wesleyan University (5-2-2) on Wednesday, losing 1-0.

The Battling Bishops got on the board first in the sixth minute on a goal from Megan Price. Price was sent down the left side of the field, dribbled into the box and calmly chipped the shot over Capital goalkeeper Hannah Klotzsche (Avon, Ind./Avon).

Capital had a chance to equalize a minute after that but a shot from Maggie Peddicord (Delaware, Ohio/Buckeye Valley) hit off the post. The Crusaders continued to pressure OWU's goal and in the 13th minute, it looked like Carlee Murry (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Darby) would have a shot at an open goal but OWU keeper Emma Hall was able to fall on the ball just before Murry could strike it.

In the first half, Capital outshot the Bishops 6-1. Six different Capital players took those shots.

While Capital soundly controlled the shots and possession in the first, the second half was a much more even contest. Both teams were able to build attacks but the defenses were up for the challenge. Freshman goalkeeper Kelly Bachmann (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville Community) entered the game for Capital at the start of the second and made three saves.

In the second, Capital took eight shots but only outshot the Bishops by one. Murry led Capital with three shots in the match, all of which were on goal.

Capital will begin Ohio Athletic Conference play on Saturday, Sept. 30 when the team travels to rival Otterbein University. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
