Crusaders Extend Winning Streak to Four
NEW CONCORD, Ohio – A goal in each half help set the Crusaders apart from the Fighting Muskies in Tuesday night's women's soccer match between Capital University and Muskingum University. The win adds to Capital's current winning streak, which now stands at four matches.

Capital (9-3, 2-0 OAC) dominated the offensive side of the ball, outshooting Muskingum 24-6 over the duration of the match. They also held a vast advantage over the Muskies in corner attempts, 6-0.

The Crusaders' first goal was aided by the Muskies, who were credited with an own goal following a deflection in front of the Muskingum cage. Maura Fortino (Philadelphia, Pa.) attempted a cross from outside the box which hit off of a Muskie player and rolled into the goal.

Capital's second goal came of its own doing when freshman defender Mary Bushee (San Marcos, Calif.) notched her second of the season shortly after the start of the second half. Just before the turn of the 47th minute, Bushee acquired a blocked shot and came forward with ball to set up her own attempt. She sent in a long ball toward the far post and snuck it inside the post, past Muskingum goalkeeper Liz Mitchell.

The Capital defense foiled any comeback attempt by the Muskies after limiting the hosts to just six shots. Zero of those fell on frame, granting Crusaders goalkeeper Kim Leitch (Rocky River, Ohio) a shutout without having to make a single save.

"Any time that you go on the road in a conference game and get win and another shut out, it is a great showing," said head coach Chris Kouns. "Hopefully we will bring a terrific effort to battle in our next match against Otterbein."

Capital will defend its winning streak in another road contest at rival Otterbein University on Saturday, Oct. 11. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
