AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – After another day at the office in last week's win over Ohio Northern, Capital University's Kathryn Walton was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week on Monday, April 22.

Capital junior Kathryn Walton (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington Central) served as the ultimate two-way midfielder in the Crusaders' 16-3 victory last Friday afternoon. On the offensive end Walton posted a seven-point day behind five goals and two assists. Two of those goals came in a 90-second period while sporting a running clock to end the first half. When not with the ball, Walton was a disruptive force after causing five turnovers and obtaining five draw controls. She also collected 10 ground balls against the Polar Bears, serving as the second-most in a single game in CU history.

The win signaled Capital seventh straight victory, tying the program's record set in each of the last two seasons. They also achieved their seventh conference win of the year, setting a new record for a single season.

The honor marks the third Player of the Week accolade for the junior this year and sixth in her career.

Capital will take the week to prepare for a showdown on OAC unbeatens for the regular season title and the overall number one seed in the upcoming OAC Tournament. The Crusaders will meet the Purple Raiders of the University of Mount Union on Saturday, April 27 in Alliance for a 1 p.m. start.
