AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Capital University Women's Lacrosse pulled a clean sweep for the most recent Ohio Athletic Conference weekly awards. Goalie Lisa Lotz was named OAC Defensive Player of the Week while Kathryn Walton was named the OAC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, March 25.
Capital (4-4, 1-0 OAC) played just once over the last week but made a lasting impression after its 20-10 victory over Baldwin Wallace University in its conference opener on Saturday.
In that game, senior Lisa Lotz (Lynchburg, Va./Jefferson Forrest) made 10 or more stops between the pipes for the fourth game this season. Lotz finished the game with 15 saves, tying her season high, and finished with a .600 save percentage. She also caused three turnovers and collected five ground balls as part of the win.
For Lotz, this is the first weekly honor from the OAC in her career.
No stranger to the OAC spotlight is Kathryn Walton (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington Central) was named the conference's offensive player of the week after setting a new career high with seven goals and 10 points in the win over BW. The junior also collected four ground balls and three draw controls while contributing on both sides of the ball for the Crusaders. She is now a four-time OAC weekly award winner and now has two this year after being named the OAC Defensive Player of the Week on March 18.
Cap's next action will be on the road at Muskingum University on Saturday, March 30. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
