AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Scoring 37 goals in two games certainly got Capital University Women’s Lacrosse noticed this week and leading the Crusaders in goals both games got sophomore midfielder Kathryn Walton the Ohio Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week award, the conference announced Monday.
Walton (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington Central) scored 11 goals over two games and added an assist for 12 total points. In Capital’s 20-4 win over Ohio Wesleyan University on March 7, Walton tied a career-high with six scores and she assisted on a goal for seven points in the contest. On Calvin College on March 9, Walton found the back of the net five times. She also won five draw controls in the two games.
After her scoring binge, Walton now leads the 6-0 Crusaders with 23 goals scored and has a team-high 28 points. Her 19 ground balls and 17 caused turnovers lead the team as well. Walton and the rest of the Crusaders will look to extend their program-best start against Wittenberg University on Wednesday, March 14. A win against the Tigers will tie the program record with seven-straight wins.
