GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Capital University women's lacrosse team took to the field for its second game in Michigan in as many days. The Crusaders took on the Knights of Calvin College. Freshman Kathryn Walton paced Capital with a game-high four goals, in an 8-3 victory.

Cap struck the back of the net first, when junior Victoria Husain (Westerville, Ohio / Westerville South) found freshman Kathryn Walton (Pickerington, Ohio / Pickerington Central) who beat the keeper for the game's first goal.

Calvin scored two unanswered goals to take a 2-1 lead. The first goal came from Kelly Pepper and the second was a free position shot by Amanda Davio.

Walton scored the final two goals of the first half. The first was assisted by sophomore Makenna Ozenghar (Youngstown, Ohio / Cardinal Mooney). The second was assisted by junior Regan Hanood (Pickerington, Ohio / Pickerington North).

At the half, senior Maddie Wilson (Chagrin Falls, Ohio / Chagrin Falls) made five saves to help preserve the lead heading into halftime. The Capital defense came up big in the first half with just two surrendered goals on 12 shots from Calvin. Cap was a perfect 7-for-7 on clear attempts in the half.

The Crusaders scored the first five goals in the second half. Just over two minutes into the half, senior Korri Titus (Pickerington, Ohio / Pickerington North) started the scoring off of a pass from Ozenghar. At the 25-minute mark junior Kara Hines (Columbus, Ohio / Worthington Kilbourne) scored as Hanood picked up her second assist of the game and put Cap up 5-2. Walton notched her fourth goal of the game on a pass from Titus. Hanood grabbed a goal that came off of a free position shot after she was fouled. Ozenghar scored the final goal of the game for Capital and extended the lead to 8-2.

Calvin scored the final goal of the game on a shot from Davio, but could not close the gap on the deficit that Cap had created.

Davio finished with a team-high two goals for the Knights. Pepper earned the other goal. Calvin held the advantage in ground balls, 16-13.

Both teams converted on one free position shot, but Cap converted 50 percent of the shots compared to the 33.3 percent of Calvin. Both teams had 15 successful clears, but once again Cap held the better percentage, 93.8 percent to the Knights 75 percent.
