AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Last year's tournament championship matchup between Capital University and the University of Mount Union caught enough attention to put both teams atop the list in this year's Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Preseason Coaches' Poll. Capital assumed the number two position in this year's poll, just a single point behind the defending OAC Tournament champions.

The top of the coaches' poll came out incredibly tight, with Mount Union taking its spot at number one with 58 points and obtaining five of the nine possible first-place votes. Coaches around the league placed Capital second with help from two first-place votes. The other two were split between third place Baldwin Wallace (50) and fourth place John Carroll (46).

Capital finished 12-5 overall last season and 6-1 in conference play. The Crusaders defeated John Carroll in the OAC Tournament semifinals for its first postseason victory, leading to the program's first appearance in a conference championship match.

Behind the two-time OAC Offensive Player of the Year and the 2014 Defensive Player of the Year, Head Coach Stacey Wood will lead a hungry group into the season opener on Thursday, March 2 against Cabrini University (Pa.) in St. Petersburg, Fla.
