PEPPER PIKE, Ohio – The Capital University women's lacrosse team tallied its 10th win in a dominating 14-3 road victory over Ursuline on Wednesday afternoon.
Capital scored the first two goals of the game in the first 3:18 of the initial half, before the Arrows responded with a score of their own.
The Crusaders then posted four straight unanswered scores to inflate their lead to 6-1 with 8:49 remaining in the opening half of play.
Ursuline then managed to tack on another goal at the 3:11 mark, before the Crusades again retaliated with one last score with under one minute remaining before halftime.
With a 7-1 lead at the break, the Capital was outshooting Ursuline 19-8, while both teams turned the ball over at an even pace of 13 apiece.
As the second half of play unfolded, the Crusader opened the half with the first score, before the Arrows again responded with a goal of their own, with Capital leading 8-3 with 26:09 left in the final half.
Capital eventually ended the game on a 6-0 scoring run, en route to a commanding 11 goal victory in the Crusaders final non-conference game of the regular season.
Leading the way for the Crusaders was freshman midfielder Korri Titus (Pickerington, Ohio), who scored five goals and recorded three assists, while fellow freshman and midfielder Shannon Walton (Fairview Park, Ohio) tallied four goals in the win.
Classmate in Miranda Stellini (Dublin, Ohio) followed with two goals, while junior Carly Pries (Hilliard, Ohio), sophomore Kim Hoerauf (Worthington, Ohio) and freshman Alexis Jurgensen (Canton, Ohio) each posted one goal apiece.
Freshman goalie Maddie Wilson (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) picked up her 10th win of the season, as she saved nine shots on the afternoon.
With the win, Capital (10-3 overall, 1-2 OAC) is now set to play its final regular season game this coming Saturday, as they host Baldwin Wallace for FOJ Day at 4 p.m. at Bernlohr Stadium.
