ABERDEEN, N.C. – The Capital University women's golf team competed in an 18-hole duel with Sandhills Community College (N.C.) on Friday, March 3. Sandhills CC came away with the victory, defeating Capital 352-406 at the Legacy Golf Links in Aberdeen, North Carolina.

Both teams battled intense winds and chilly temperatures, which altered playing conditions at the 6,009-yard course. Three Sandhills players finished with sub-90 scorecards to lead the team.

Junior Katie Lease (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) and sophomore Katelynn Kinley (Sycamore, Ohio/Mohawk) were Cap's low scorers. Each posted matching 101 scores over 18 holes.

Junior Janie Moller (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North) and Christy Conley (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Pickerington Central) finished right behind their teammates with a 102.

Freshman Reagan Stone (Westchester, Ohio/Lakota West) made her first collegiate start at Friday's dual meet, where she shot a 126 to round out the lineup.

Kari Hogan (105) and Madison Stone (115) also competed for Capital.

Sandhills' Parker Watson took top medalist honors after turning in an 81. Danielle Washburn (83) and Amanda Hill (83) reinforced their scorecard, and Tala Locklear (102) rounded it out.

Capital's next action comes at the Ursuline College Women's Golf Invitational on March 25-26.
