WEST LAFAYETTE, Ohio – The Capital University women's golf team wrapped up play in the Ohio Athletic Conference Preview at the River Green Golf Course on Sunday afternoon. Junior Katie Lease (Hilliard, Ohio) put together one of the best rounds in recent program history.
Lease, tied for third place out of 35 participants after shooting a 168. On the first day, Lease finished the round with a stroke of 88. She shaved eight strokes off that score in the second round, tallying a score of 80. That score is the best round by a Capital women's golfer since at least the 2003 season.
Katelynn Kinley (Sycamore, Ohio) finished second on the team with a total of 185 after two rounds. Christy Conley (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) saw minor improvement between rounds, improving to 93 in the second round after recording a stroke of 95 in the first.
The Purple and White finished in fifth place out of six teams with a team score of 734. The University of Mount Union earned first place, recording a score of 675 after receiving strong performances from all five of its participants. All players finished in the top fifteen, highlighted by Olivia DeMartino, who tied for first, and Erica Mawhorr, who placed in a tie for third. Otterbein University finished in second place and Ohio Northern University rounded out the top three with a team score of 696.
