Weather Shortens Capital’s Stay at Trine Spring Classic

ANGOLA, Ind. – Weather hampered play at the Trine University Spring Classic for all 70-plus participants, and shortened this weekend's tournament to 18 holes. Capital University's women's golf team battled the elements to finish in 11th place at the Zollner Golf Course.

Sophomore Katie Lease (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) served as Capital's top finisher after posting a 92 (+20) in 18 holes. She was one of five golfers to hole two or more birdies over the course of the round. She held a share of 40th place come round's end.

Running down the Crusaders' lineup, sophomore Christy Conley (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Pickerington Central) finished two strokes behind Lease. Freshman Kaitlyn Kinley (98), Kristen Sollmann (100) and Janie Moller (108) rounded out Capital's scorecard.

Capital (384) finished 11th out of 13 competing teams. Hope College (322) took the team title with host Trine University (Ind.) (349) finishing sixth overall.

Because of inclement weather, it has been decided that the second round will be canceled and the tournament will end with scores reported on Friday.

The Crusaders will play in the Wooster Women's Golf Spring Invitational at Mohican Hills Golf Club on April 16-17.
