Women’s Golf Closes Up Battle at the Beach Invitational

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Capital University women's golf team concluded its stay in Myrtle Beach, S.C. after competing in the Battle at the Beach tournament. Capital went up against a host of NCAA Division II institutions and finished in seventh place. The two-day tournament was held at Myrtlewood Golf Club-Pinehills.

Katie Lease (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) served as Capital's top finisher, tying for 25th overall with a two-day score of 184 (90-94). Both of the sophomore's rounds served as the two round lows scored for the team.

Sophomore Janie Moller and freshman Kaitlyn Kinley finished one stroke apart, turning in a 195 (98-97) and 196 (100-96), respectively. Senior Kristen Sollmann and sophomore Christy Conley tallied 202 (102-100) score cards, each.

Indiana Institute of Technology ran away with the team title, posting a winning team score of 644 and putting forth the lowest round total on both Friday and Saturday. Their own Wiebke Schlender won the individual title with a 152 (71-81). Host Tiffin University placed second overall.

Capital will compete next on April 2-3 at the Ohio Northern Spring Invitational at Colonial Golf Club.
