Women’s Golf Finishes Heidelberg Invitational in Fourth Place

TIFFIN, Ohio – The Capital University women's golf team finalized their scorecards at this year's Heidelberg Fall Invitational, held at Mohawk Golf and Country Club. The two-day tournament concluded Sunday afternoon, where Capital found itself in fourth place at the day's end.

Ohio Northern University (363-346-709) held off Columbus State University (353-363-716) in the tournament's two-horse race, while Lourdes College finished in front of Capital with a 746 (379-367) score.

Capital finished the tournament with a pair of consistent rounds with a 383 on day one and a 384 on Sunday.

Sophomore Katie Lease (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) and sophomore Janie Moller (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North) modeled that consistency, each equaling their first round score on Sunday. Lease led the Crusaders and shared fourth place overall with an 89-89-178 on the par 73, 5,803-yard course. Moller followed 10 shots behind with a 94-94-118, good for a share of 12th place.

Frehsman Katelynn Kinley and sophomore Christy Conley rounded out the Capital scorers with tournament scores of 197 and 205, respectively. Kristen Sollmon rounded out the Capital lineup with a 211.

Ohio Northern's Heather Comer earned top medalist honors with an 83-83-166 over the course of the weekend. She held off Columbus State's Raefella Gioffre by two strokes.

Capital will compete next at the Defiance Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 27.
