Women’s Golf Defeats Muskingum in Dual Match

CANAL WINCHESTER, Ohio – The Capital University women's golf team turned in a solid performance Thursday, defeating Muskingum in a dual match at Westchester Golf Course.


The Crusaders finished with 369 strokes, while the Muskies totaled a 516. All four Capital players finished ahead of each member of Muskingum's foursome.


Senior Jessica DeBelly (Sylvania, Ohio) fired a 39 on the back nine en route to an 87 for the low round of the day and the second-lowest round of her season.


Sophomore Kayla Fowler (Ashville, Ohio) posted a career-low score of 90, shooting 48 on the front nine and 42 on the back. Freshman Emily Kunz (Alliance, Ohio) tied her career low, matching her score in the second round at Ohio Wesleyan last weekend with a 92 (48-44) on Thursday.


Sophomore Kristen Sollmann (Beavercreek, Ohio) also carded a career-low number, tallying a score of 100 (48-52).


The Crusaders play their final tune-up prior to the Ohio Athletic Conference Championship next week Wednesday at the Trine University Spring Invitational. Play is set to begin at 1 p.m. at Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Ind.
