AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – On Monday, Jan. 29, 2018 the conference office announced that Capital University junior Erin Risner was named Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
Risner, a junior forward from Canfield, Ohio, had two strong performances that led the Crusaders to a 2-0 mark over the last week of play, including a decisive victory over No. 10/11 Ohio Northern University. The honor is the first such of her career.
Between the pair of wins over her last two games, Risner averaged 20.0 points per game after dropping 21 points on Muskingum University and 19 points on the nationally-ranked Polar Bears. In the 61-53 win over the Muskies, she also added four rebounds, three assists and two steals to help Capital snap a three-game losing streak. Three days later, Risner helped lead an early charge against ONU with 11 first-quarter points. She finished the game with four rebounds, six rebounds and two steals as part of the Crusaders' eight-point upset win.
Risner finished the week with a line of 20.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals, and 4.5 assists per game.
Riser and the Crusaders will prepare for a home matchup against Heidelberg University on Wednesday, Jan. 31. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
