COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University women's basketball team continues to get national recognition following the release of this week's national polls on Tuesday. The Crusaders jumped up to No. 17 in NCAA Division III in both the D3Hoops.com and USA Today Coaches' Poll.

Capital, now 13-2 overall and 6-2 in Ohio Athletic Conference play, is currently on a seven-game winning streak. During the streak, the Crusaders knocked off No. 11/12 Calvin College in an overtime thriller, 79-70, in the Marriott Columbus Airport Tournament championship. It served as one of two overtime victories and all wins have been by at least nine points.

The D3Hoops.com poll has the Crusaders ranked 17th, with 197 points. The USA Today Coaches' Poll has Capital in a three-way tie for 17th with 59 points. Capital jumped six spots after holding down the No. 23 ranking in both polls, last week.

Thomas More College (Ky.), Amherst College (Mass.) and George Fox University (Ore.) continue to hold down the top three spots, in that order, in both polls.

Muskingum University will be the next test for the Crusaders with a 7:30 p.m. game in New Concord, Ohio this Wednesday night. They will return home this Saturday, Jan. 23, versus 11th- ranked Ohio Northern University, at 3 p.m.  This will be the second meeting between the Polar Bears and Crusaders. Capital looks to even the season series after falling 58-46 earlier in the season.
