AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Capital University senior Kristen Thompson has been named the Week 1 Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, according to the conference office.

Thompson, a Cincinnati, Ohio native, rattled off a pair of double-doubles over the weekend in a pair of wins at the Eastern Mennonite University Tip-Off Classic. Over the weekend, she averaged 17.5 points per game and 13.0 rebounds per game to pace the Crusaders. She also finished with six assists, two blocks and one steal. Thompson possessed the highest field goal percentage at .619 and hit 75 percent of her free throw attempts.

In the season opener, she recorded 14 points and posted 15 rebounds, the most she has had in a single game since her 17 posted as a sophomore against John Carroll University. She followed that performance up with 21 points and 11 rebounds against host Eastern Mennonite. In that game, Thompson shot 8-for-11 from the field to help the Crusaders to a 73-54 victory, which also ended a 31-game home winning streak for EMU.
