Capital University women's basketball senior Jamie Caton was selected to the D3hoops.com Scoutware Team of the Week for games played during the week of Dec. 9-15, the website announced late Tuesday.
Caton, who on Monday was named Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Week, averaged 25.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.0 steals per game to earn All-Tournament team honors at the Hope Post-Exam Jam last weekend in Holland, Mich.
The forward led the Crusaders to a 73-65 victory over Robert Morris-Springfield on Friday with a then-career high of 24 points to go along with nine rebounds, four assists, six steals and four blocks.
Caton bettered her career high scoring output in Saturday's tournament championship game, totaling 26 points on 11-of-19 shooting in Capital's 93-68 setback against sixth-ranked Hope. She also recorded five rebounds and four steals in the affair.
Caton enters tonight's OAC showdown against Wilmington as the team's leader in scoring (15.9 points per game) and blocks (six). She has started all eight of the team's games this season, and is averaging better than 20 points in her last five contests.
The Team of the Week presented by Scoutware is D3hoops.com's weekly honor roll of the top performances at each of the five positions from the previous week for both men's and women's NCAA Division III basketball. The Team of the Week is in its 17th season.
