Finishing the Regular Season with Multiple Personal Records

WILMINGTON, Ohio– Capital University Men's Cross Country finished its regular season on Friday afternoon at the JennaStrong Fall Classic hosted by Wilmington College. The men's 8,000-meter race commenced following the women's 5K. Capital finished 13th out of 36 teams total with a combined time of 2:29:24. 

Freshman Alexander Hansel (Willoughby, Ohio) led the Crusaders with a time of 27:15.8, placing 65th out of 363 participants. This marks Hansel's career-best 8k time and the fastest finish for Capital Men's Cross Country this season. 

Freshman Zachary Brown (Tallmadge, Ohio) closely followed Hansel, finishing less than five seconds behind. Brown's final time was 27:21.7, earning him 70th overall. 27:21.7 was also Brown's fastest 8k time as a Crusader. 

Tyler Gunderson, Maxwell Zawatsky, and Trenton Thompson finished 76th, 135th, and 169threspectively. All three earned personal bests for the 2019 season. 

The Crusaders will compete in the OAC Championships at Gilmour Academy in Gates Mills, Ohio on Saturday, November 2.
