Cap Men’s Cross Country Takes the Course at OAC Championships

HARTVILLE, Ohio – Capital University Men's Cross Country stepped onto the course at the Sable Creek Golf Club in Hartville, Ohio for the Ohio Athletic Conference Championship, hosted by the University of Mount Union on Saturday and through the team's combined efforts placed ninth.

Freshman Grant Ward paced the Crusaders and crossed the finish line in 97th place to lead the team with a run of 30:10.1.

In 109th and 110th, Daniel McPherson and Jonas Pyle finished just seconds apart. McPherson stopped the clock at 30:43.6 and Pyle turned in a time of 30:47.2

Senior Nathan Hutchins was the next Crusader to cross the finish line, completing the 8,000-meter course in 32.27.8.

The Crusaders placed ninth overall with a team score of 274. Otterbein University won the meet with a score of 38 and Ohio Northern University runner Ian McVey won the individual title.

The Crusaders will now have two weeks to prepare for the Great Lakes NCAA Regional Championships hosted by Franklin College on Saturday, Nov. 10.
