Current Crusaders and Alumni Tear up Course at Columbus State Cougar Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Current members of Capital University Men's Cross Country and runners from teams past blazed their way through the course at the Columbus State Community College Cougar Invitational on Saturday as the team took first place.

Freshman Grant Ward paced the Crusaders with a fifth-place finish and time of 17:42. Nathan Hutchins finished just a second behind Ward in sixth with a run of 17:43.

Daniel McPherson and Jonas Pyle finished eighth and ninth, each stopping the clock at 17:59. Senior Andrew Rus rounded out the group with a performance of 18:33, good for 12th overall.

Eight Capital alums also competed at the meet, including Derek Knabe '18 who placed first with a time of 16:01. Josh Davis, Andrew Stroh, Mitchell Stith, Calvin Lortie, Kessashun Arthur, Josh Barkeloo and Mike Ramseyer also competed.

The Crusaders will have their first break of the season with a two-week hiatus before running in the Jenna Strong Invitational hosted by Wilmington College on Friday, Oct. 12.
