Knabe Wins Battle of Columbus Meet

Westerville, Ohio - Senior runner Derek Knabe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) hit the ground running for Capital University Men's Cross Country to start off 2017 and finished in first place overall in the Battle of Columbus Meet at Otterbein University with a personal-best time of 15:59.4.

Capital finished third out of three teams. Otterbein won the team competition and Ohio Dominican University finished second.

Placing second for Cap was senior Calvin Lortie (Mount Vernon, Ohio/Mount Vernon) with a time of 17:07.6. Aaron Fox (Commercial Point/Teays Valley) finished right behind Lortie with a run of 17:18.4.

Junior Andrew Rus (Mayfield, Ohio/Mayfield) completed the course in 18:47.6 and Nathan Hutchins (Toledo, Ohio/Maumee) ran an 18:57.0.

The final two Capital runners, Quinton Napier (Columbus, Ohio/Hamilton Township) and James Kisner (Batavia, Ohio/Amelia), finished in 19:13.7 and 21:10.7, respectively.

The team has more than two weeks until their next competition. The Purple and White will return to the course on Sept. 16 at the Allegheny Cross Country Classic hosted by Allegheny College.
