Capital Picked Eighth in OAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – With the season right around the corner, the Ohio Athletic Conference announced that Capital University Men's Cross Country was picked to finish eighth out of 10 teams in the in the OAC Preseason Coaches' poll.

The Crusaders earned 30 points in the annual poll, 34 points behind first-place Mount Union University. The Raiders barely edged Ohio Northern University for the top spot with the Polar Bears receiving 72 points. Each team earned five first-place votes.

The Purple and White are picked to finish above Muskingum University (20) and Marietta University (9) and are only five points behind Wilmington College. Otterbein University (63), John Carroll University (57), Heidelberg University (49) and Baldwin Wallace University (41) make up the middle of the pack.

Seniors Aaron Fox (Commercial Point, Ohio/Teays Valley), Derek Knabe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills), Calvin Lortie (Mount Vernon, Ohio/Mount Vernon) and Quinton Napier (Columbus, Ohio/Hamilton Township) all return for the Crusaders and will be joined on the course by junior Andrew Rus (Mayfield, Ohio/Mayfield) and three freshmen.

Capital's season begins on Friday, Sept. 1 at the Otterbein Dual in Westerville, Ohio.
