Men’s Cross Country Finish Eighth at OAC Championships

DELAWARE, Ohio – Saturday afternoon, the Capital University men's Capital University cross country team hosted the 2016 Ohio Athletic Conference Championship at Columbus State Community College.  The Capital group beat out Muskingum University and Marietta College, earning and overall eighth-place team finish.

Junior Derek Knabe (Cincinnati, Ohio) was the first Capital harrier in with a time of 27:38.3. That time earned him a 40th-place finish out of a field 143 competitors.

Junior Aaron Fox (Commercial Point, Ohio) was the next purple jersey to finish, clocking in at 28:40.5, and finishing 70th.Senior Andrew Stroh (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) wrapped up his last OAC Championship, crossing the finish line in 29:54.8.

Freshman pair Tim Trentel (Lakewood, Ohio) and Austin Myers (Upper Sandusky, Ohio) made into the top half of the Capital group in his first OAC Championship debut in a time of 30:15.9 and 31:06.5.

Ohio Northern University (29) ran away with its second straight OAC Championship with four finishing inside the top-10. Taking second place was the University of Mount Union (43), and the third place finisher was Otterbein University (96). Andrew Harden from Ohio Northern University won the individual title with a time of 25:24.4.

Capital is set to compete at this year's Great Lakes Regional Championship, hosted by Hope College, on Saturday, Nov. 12, in Holland, Mich.
