Knabe Runs Down OAC Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week Laurels

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – The Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) announced its weekly player awards this afternoon. Capital University's Derek Knabe was named the Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week honoree for the week of Sept. 26.

Knabe, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, turned in the top performance for an attached runner at this weekend's Columbus State/Capital Invitational. In a field of 27 runners among three competing teams, the junior turned in a 27:31.00 time on the 8,000-meter course. It was the second-fastest 8k time of his career. He finished second overall in the race.

Knabe helped lead Capital to a first-place team finish, as well. It was the team's introductory run on the course that will serve as the site of the 2016 OAC Cross Country Championships.
