WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Thursday evening the Capital Men's Cross Country team made their season debut in a dual meet with Otterbein University. Capital had some shining moments, but the Cardinals outscored them at the Otterbein Early Bird Open.
An experienced group of returners led the Capital pack on Thursday, starting with junior Derek Knabe (Cincinnati, Ohio), who was the first purple jersey to cross the line with a time of 17:37.39.
Filing in behind was junior Aaron Fox (Commercial Point, Ohio) clocking in at 17:55.90, shedding his time by multiple minutes from last season.
Freshman Tim Trentel (Lakewood, Ohio), a new face to Capital is already running in the top group right behind the seasoned pair at 18:01.14. Other new faces, making their debuts were Austin Myers (Upper Sandusky, Ohio) at 19:18.20, Danny Costello (Sandy Valley, Ohio) 20:20.75, and Quinton Napier (Columbus, Ohio / Hamilton Township) with a time of 20:50.32.
Otterbein won the meet with a final team score of 50, and Capital 15.
Capital will be back in action Saturday, Sept. 17, at the Capital Invitational in Delaware, Ohio.
