AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – The Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) announced its 2016 preseason coaches' poll for men's cross country on Tuesday morning. Ohio Northern University tops the list, while Capital has been selected to finish seventh out of 10 teams.

Ohio Northern received nine out of the potential 10 first-place votes in this year's preseason poll, leading to their anticipated top placement in the conference. John Carroll University stole the last first-place vote and is 11 points behind the Polar Bears in the team rankings.

Capital finds itself predicted to finish seventh overall with 31 points. They sit in front of Wilmington College (24), Muskingum University (23) and Marietta College (9). In front of Capital by just nine points is Heidelberg University (42).

Capital returns three of its top runners from a season ago, including juniors Derek Knabe (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Aaron Fox (Commercial Point, Ohio), plus senior Andrew Stroh (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson). That trio will combine forces with four incoming freshmen and two newcomers that have upperclassman status.

The Crusaders will open their season at the Otterbein Early Bird meet on Thursday, Sept. 1 in Westerville, Ohio.
