Knabe leads Crusaders at Otterbein Invitational

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Capital University Men's Cross Country was out to a steady pace Saturday afternoon, finishing in front of Defiance and Columbus State at the Otterbein Invitational.

Sophomore Derek Knabe (Cincinnati, Ohio) set the Crusaders pace with a time of 28:17.4 earning him a spot in the top half of the event's 230 runners.  

Freshman Christian Vermillion (Hilliard, Ohio / Hilliard Darby) continued to begin his collegiate career strongly, serving as the second Crusaders to cross the line for Capital at 29:16.6.

Junior Andrew Stroh (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) clocked in at 29:32.3, finishing third for Capital.

Sophomore Aaron Fox (Commerical Point, Ohio) 29:34.7 and Junior Kaleb Perez (Woodville, Ohio) 31:36.7 finished up the race for Capital runners.

Taking first place in the team standings was Ohio Wesleyan University (63) and the host Otterbein (86) took second. Capital (460) placed 15th out of 17 teams, ahead of Defiance (483) and Columbus State University (509).

The Crusaders are set to race again at the All-Ohio Championship hosted by Cedarville University (Cedarville, Ohio).
