WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Capital University Men's Cross Country began its 2015 campaign in a dual meet with Otterbein University on Tuesday evening. The Cardinals took the meet while the Crusaders shook off the rust in Otterbein's Early Bird Open.
Otterbein defeated Capital by a final of 47-16 with the Cardinals taking each of the top four spots.
Junior Andrew Stroh (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) led the Capital pack by finishing fifth overall. He finished the 5,000-meter course in 17:18 in his first action of the year.
Sophomore Derek Knabe (Cincinnati, Ohio) finished ninth with a sub-18-minute time, closing out the race in 17:56.
Christian Vermillion (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) was the top freshman finisher for Capital, crossing the finish line 18:24.
Capital will be back in action this Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitation in Delaware, Ohio.
