DELAWARE, Ohio -- Capital University Men's Cross Country was in action at the Ohio Wesleyan University Invitational, Saturday morning. The Crusaders were paced by Derek Knabe but placed 10th overall as a team.
Knabe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) served as the first Crusaders to cross the finish line for the second straight week, this time on an 8,000-meter course. On Saturday, the freshman posted a 28:32.1 finish time to own 36th place out of a one-hundred seventeen-man field of competitors. Last week, Knabe led Capital with a 18:54.2 finish time on a 5,000-meter course at the Dayton Flyer 5k.
Sophomore Andrew Stroh (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson) and freshman Kaleb Perez (Woodville, Ohio/Woodmore) finished just seven seconds and four places apart. They crossed the line near the middle of the pack, turning in times of 30:05.1 (67th place) and 30:12.4 (71st place), respectively.
The College of Wooster took the team win behind a 71-point effort while host Ohio Wesleyan placed second.
Capital has the next off but will return to action on Sept. 20 at the Otterbein University Invitational.
