Andrew Bloom comes to Capital after three seasons as an assistant at his alma mater, Ohio Wesleyan University. Prior to that, Bloom was the head distance coach at Worthington Kilbourne High School from 2009-2013.
At Ohio Wesleyan, Bloom coached five All-Americans, 16 national qualifiers and 24 North Coast Athletic Conference Champions. In 2015, Bloom was named the Great Lakes Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year for the outdoor season.
As an athlete at Ohio Wesleyan from 2005-09, Bloom was a three-time national qualifier, twice in the decathlon and once in the javelin throw. He was a three-time outdoor conference champion in the decathlon and won an indoor conference championship in the 800-meter relay. He was also a four-time all-conference member for the indoor season and was named to three all-conference teams during the outdoor seasons.
Bloom graduated from OWU in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Microbiology and holds a masters degree from Concordia University-Portland in Curriculum and Instruction.
