ADA, Ohio – Qualifiers for the 2019 Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships flocked to Ohio Northern University on Friday to begin their weekends with dreams of conference glory. Capital University Men's Track & Field was no exception and the Crusaders started their weekends with some positive results.

In the completed field events, Capital earned six total points. Freshman Joseph Eskra earned a top-five position in the pole vault by clearing 4.21 meters. In the weight throw, sophomore Josh Miller's toss of 15.38 meters was good enough for seventh. Noah Meeker placed 10th in the long jump with a leap of 6.12 meters on his second attempt of the afternoon.

On the track, Capital's 4,000-meter distance medley relay team placed eighth with a mark of 11:30.46.

The rest of the events Capital competed in were preliminary races with finals on Saturday. Meeker and Cole Williams both raced in the 60-meter dash but did not qualify for Saturday's finals with times of 7.35 and 7.52 seconds, respectively.

After the first day, Capital sits in 8th overall with seven points. The headliners for the Crusaders on Saturday will likely be John Seman in the high jump and Miller in the shot put. Field events will continue at 10 a.m. on Saturday and running events will resume at 2 p.m.
