NEW ORLEANS, La. – On Monday, May 22, 2017 the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its nation-wide all-region lists. Capital University junior Logan Allison earned his 10th career all-region honor as a member of the All-Great Lakes Region Team for this outdoor season.
The five best individuals in each event from each region – as well the region's top three relay teams – earned all-region distinction. The regions used for this award – Atlantic, Central, Great Lakes, Mideast, Midwest, New England, South/Southeast and West – match those used during cross country and the indoor track & field season. A total of 935 men and 945 women earned all-region honors for their efforts.
Logan Allison (Gallipolis, Ohio/Gallia Academic), who recently qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, was named All-Great Lakes Region for his performance in the triple jump. His best mark came on his final jump at last week's Great Lakes Elite Meet, which was recorded at 14.73 meters (48-04). That leap also won the event. Allison successfully defended his outdoor triple jump title at the OAC Championships held at Muskingum University behind a jump of 14.36 meters (47-01 ½) to win back-to-back championships in that event on both the indoor and outdoor circuits. He also was named Ohio Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Year following the indoor and outdoor conference championships.
Allison is now a 10-time all-region selection after picking up four accolades in 2015-16, and a combined five this athletic season. He was a four-time all-region pick after the 2016-17 indoor season.
The NCAA Track & Field Championships begin on Thursday, May 25 with the heptathlon and decathlon events. Allison will compete in the triple jump on Saturday, May 27 at 10:30 a.m. from the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
