Allison Punches Ticket to NCAA Outdoor Championship, Sets School Record

DELAWARE, Ohio – Capital Men's Track and Field took multiple competitors to the Great Lakes Elite Meet, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University at Selby Stadium, on Thursday night. Logan Allison qualified for Nationals with an event-winning leap in the triple jump, while Fraser Smith displayed consistency in his throws event.

Junior jump specialist Logan Allison (Gallipolis, Ohio/Gallia Academy) surpassed her previous best mark in the triple jump, winning the event with a 14.73-meter (48-04) leap. His previous best came at the Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship on April 28 when he hit 14.36 meters.

Allison's mark also set a new school record in the event, supplanting Bobby Jones (14.43m) at the top of the list. Jones held the record since 2005.

With that mark, Allison jumped into the nation's top 10 in has qualified for the 2017 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which will be held May 25-27 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

Senior Fraser Smith (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) continued to show growth in the men's hammer throw, coming near his newly minted personal record set last week. He placed seventh with a toss of 46.98 meters (154-02), coming just shy of his PR of 47.05 meters.
