WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Capital University Men's Track & Field finished its last regular season meet at the Otterbein Twilight Invitational at Memorial Stadium, on Friday evening. Friday night's competition served as the team's last go-around before the Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships Capital had many top finishes that added to their eighth-place team standing out of 15 teams with 39 points.
Junior Logan Allison (Gallipolis, Ohio/Gallia Academy) claimed another victory this week leading the triple jump with a mark of 14.21 meters (46-07). Allison is also leading the Ohio Athletic Conference in triple jump with a previously set mark from the Division III All-Ohio Outdoor Track & Field Championships of 14.31 meters (46-11).
Freshman Trevor Collins (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) led the 200-meter dash field with a time of 22.12. Collins is ranked first in the 200-meter dash going into his first OAC Outdoor Championship with a time of 21.81 seconds, set at Cedarville Yellow Jacket Collegiate Outdoor Open.
Junior Nicholas Santos (Annandale, Virginia/ Falls Church) shaved 30 seconds off his previous personal record time in the 400-meter dash crossing the line in 51.42, a fifth-place time. Santos also knocked down another personal record in the 200-meter dash by finishing seventh in 22.86.
The 4x100-meter team has been a consistent group and recorded another top-placing time, coming in third in 42.91. The 4x100 team included junior Logan Allison, Trevor Collins, and seniors Miguel Davalos (Dayton, Ohio / Archbishop Alter) and Tyler Kuhnes (Newark, Ohio / Licking Valley).
Sophomore John Seman (Ashland, Ohio/Hillsdale) picked up some points in the high jump with a fourth-place, 1.86-meter (6-01) jump, landing just shy of his personal best.
Senior Fraser Smith (Hilliard, Ohio / Hilliard Bradley) seized one of the last spots going into finals pulling out two eighth-place finishes with a throw of 13.05 meters (42-09) in the shot put, and 41.80-meter (137-01) toss in the hammer throw.
Ohio Dominican University tied with host Otterbein University for first in the team standings with 96 points. Cedarville University wrapped up the top teams coming in third with 89.50 points.
Next, Capital will head to Muskingum University to compete at the Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships at the Johnson Family Track (New Concord, Ohio) starting on Friday, April 21.
