AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – The Ohio Athletic Conference announced its men's tennis postseason awards on Wednesday morning. Capital University rising sophomore Graeme Green was rewarded for his early success with First Team All-OAC honors.
Graeme Green, a New Albany, Ohio native and product of New Albany High School, ended his debut season on a high note with his first career all-conference accolade. He was one of six recognized with first team laurels.
Green burst onto the scene in the spring season with a singles win at the number two spot over the College of Wooster's Jesse DeWitt (6-2, 6-1). That victory jumpstarted a 10-match winning streak on the singles circuit, including wins in each of his first seven bouts. After five wins at the second spot in the singles lineup, he elevated to the number one and opened with demonstrative wins over Muskingum University's Levi Hall (6-0, 6-0) and Marietta College's Jack Hirschfield (6-1, 6-2). He won five straight in the top-flight match before the first singles blemish of the season in the regular season finale. He finished the year 11-1 overall in singles play, 8-1 against conference competition.
The freshman also had success on the doubles side where he went 8-4 overall. He had his most success with teammate John Roberts, who when paired with went 7-3.
With help from Green, the Crusaders earned the number six seed in the 2018 OAC Men's Tennis Tournament and finished the year 5-9 overall.
