MASON, Ohio – Capital University Men's Tennis met up with Baldwin Wallace University at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio in its final match away from Columbus in the regular season. While freshman Graeme Green was able to continue his winning streak in singles play, the Crusaders lost to the Yellow Jackets, 6-3, on Saturday afternoon.
Freshman Graeme Green (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) improved his overall singles record to 8-0 after his win in the top flight singles match against Dominic Polifrone, 6-3, 6-2. He is now 3-0 since moving into the top spot of the Capital lineup.
Green was also able to pull down a victory during doubles play, accounting for Capital's first point of the afternoon. After Capital dropped doubles matches at the number one and three positions, Green and teammate John Roberts dropped Jake Elbin and Alex Papke in an 8-1 decision to make for a 2-1 match score.
Roberts joined Green as a victor in his respective singles match, downing Roger Boyer, 6-4, 6-2. Beyond Green and Roberts, the Crusaders lineup was unable to grab another victory.
Senior C.J. Martin fell in three sets to Matt Harris (3-6, 6-3, 10-6) at number two singles.
Senior Santino DiMichaelangelo lost to Jake Elbin at number three singles, 6-1, 7-5. Hunter Walter and Ben Heiland also lost in their respective matches. Walter fell to Michael Benotti (6-3, 6-0) while Heiland lost to Alex Papke (7-5, 6-3).
Capital has three matches remaining on its regular season schedule, all at home. They begin that stretch with its rescheduled rivalry match against Otterbein University on Sunday, April 22. They will meet the Cardinals at Wolfe Park in Bexley for a 1 p.m. first serve. They will play a third match in as many days when they host Heidelberg University on Monday, April 23 at 3:30 p.m.
