ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Capital University Men's Tennis earned its first conference win of the season with an 8-1 victory over Muskingum University on Wednesday night at Zanesville High School.
Capital (3-5, 1-2 OAC) took two out of three doubles matches to open the contest with wins out of the number one and two positions. C.J. Martin and Santino DiMichaelangelo overpowered Levi Hall and Colin Keck, 8-0, while their teammates Graeme Green and John Roberts took care of business against Yozarbo Igari and Brenton Franks, 8-1.
Graeme Green was elevated into the number one spot in the singles lineup and defeated Levi Hall in shutout fashion in straight sets. DiMichaelangelo equaled Green in the third-flight match against Gordie German. Martin at two beat Igari (6-1, 6-0) while Roberts took down Franks (6-1, 6-1).
Hunter Walter battled Micah Keith in their first set and prevailed, 7-6 (8-6), before making quick work in the second set in a 6-0 clinching win. Ben Heiland completed the singles sweep with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Caleb Patton.
Green's victory extended his singles winning streak to five matches and remains undefeated thus far in his collegiate career.
The Crusaders will prepare for a rivalry showdown against Otterbein on Saturday, April 14 at Wolfe Park in Bexley. First service will take place at 1 p.m.
