WOOSTER, Ohio – Capital Men's Tennis began the spring portion of its season a little early but took its game with The College of Wooster inside the Aspen Racquet Club on Saturday afternoon. While one Crusader earned his first win in his collegiate debut, it was Cap's only point in its 8-1 loss to the Fighting Scots.
The Crusaders (0-3) quickly fell down three points after doubles play but got a good bout out of its top team which included senior Santino DiMichaelangelo and C.J. Martin. The duo dropped an 8-5 decision to the team of Nathan Devereux and Joaquin Abos Amo.
Capital's singles matches did not fare well with the exception of freshman Graeme Green, who made his debut with the team on Saturday. Green played out of the number two spot in the singles lineup and defeated Jesse DeWitt in his first collegiate match in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1.
The remaining points were taken by the Fighting Scots (1-1) after earning wins in five of six singles matches.
Capital will use the next month to continue training but returns to action against Defiance University on March 14 in a road contest. The next Capital home match will be on March 28 when they host Shawnee State University.
